Terms

Last updated 16 August 2026

These are the terms for using Better Days. They are short on purpose, and they try to say plainly what you can expect and what we do not promise.

Using Better Days

Better Days is free to use. You need to be 18 or older. You may use it for yourself, for as long as you like, and stop whenever you want — there is nothing to cancel.

Please do not attempt to break, overload, or misuse the service, and do not use it to harm anyone.

What you write is yours

Anything you write in Better Days belongs to you. We claim no rights over it and we will never publish it.

If you keep it on one device it never reaches us. If you sync it, it is locked in your browser first, with a key we do not have — so we cannot read it either way.

Your account and your password

An account is optional. Better Days works fully without one, and nothing is withheld from you for not having one.

Your password is the key to your written notes, and we never receive it. That means we cannot reset it for you in a way that recovers those notes. Keep the recovery code we show you when you create an account.

Losing your password does not cost you your companion, your garden or how far you have travelled — a sign-in link sent to your email brings all of that back. Only your written notes need the password or the recovery code.

You can delete your account, and everything in it, from Settings at any time. It happens immediately and cannot be undone.

This is not medical care

Better Days is a companion app, not a health service. It does not diagnose, treat, assess, or monitor anything, and no professional is reviewing what you enter. It is not a substitute for medical or psychological care, and it is not an emergency service.

If you are in crisis or need support, please contact a helpline or local emergency services. Settings lists free and confidential helplines.

What we do not promise

Better Days is provided as it is, without warranties. We do not promise that it will always be available, that it will be free of faults, or that it will produce any particular result for you.

Without an account, your progress lives only in your own browser and can be lost by clearing site data, switching devices, or a browser fault. We cannot recover that for you, because we never had a copy. Settings has a backup option, and it is worth using.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using Better Days, including lost progress.

Changes

These terms may change as Better Days grows — most immediately when optional accounts arrive. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
